Wolves News · TC December Spotlight: Gator’s Student Athletes of the Month

A big shout out to the following Gator’s Student Athletes of the Month for all their hard work and dedication to not only to their team but also to their academics. The Timber Creek Athletic Department would like to congratulate and recognize Brooke Birkner and Jacob Schalk as our Gator’s Student Athlete of the Month for December. Way to Go Wolves!
Gator’s Female Athlete of the Month
Brooke Birkner is a Junior at Timber Creek High School who has been a big part of the Girls Varsity Basketball team’s success (14-2).  Brooke is an AP student with amazing work ethic both in school and on the court. She works extremely hard and contributes in any way possible. In our short season, she has exceeded our expectation and is having an MVP type year. When she is not in practice, her head is always studying or preparing for exams. Before our games she spends her time completing school work and still manages to prepare for the game. This year, she has volunteered in many community projects with SGA and our program such as, Second Harvest Food Bank, Reading Buddies and other projects.
Brooke started playing basketball when she was 4 years old where she was coached by Freddie Cintron at the YMCA in Avalon Park. She has also played both soccer and flag football. Brooke is undecided about her future plans but is considering going into the field of medicine. She hopes to either attend the University of Florida, UCF or Emry Riddle.

Gator’s Male Student Athlete of the Month
Jacob Schalk is a senior at Timber Creek High School who is an integral part of the Boys Varsity Wrestling team. He wrestles in the 220lb weight class and has a record of 13-4 with 10 pins and 80 team points. Jacob is leading the team in wins, pins and team points. He is a key member to our team being 10-1 and advancing to the FHSAA regional dual meet tournament. Jacob is the ultimate team member moving around to help the team, working hard every day, and is one of the most dependable members of the team. He maintains above a 3.0 GPA and is in many AP and Honor’s classes. Jacob is the total package on the mat and in the classroom.

Jacob has wrestled 3 years of his high school career at Timber Creek. He also played golf at TC his freshman and sophomore year. He plans on attending UCF and majoring in financial business. When Jacobs not wrestling or studying, he enjoys volunteering at his church.
