Wolves News · January Spotlight: Vote for the Gator’s Student Athletes of the Month

Hello Students, Parents and the TC Community!

The Timber Creek Wolves Athletic Department would like to announce their monthly contest for the Student Athletes of the Month for January brought to you by Gator’s Dockside of Waterford Lakes. Each month the Timber Creek coaches select a member of their team that best exemplifies a Wolf Student Athlete. There is an emphasis on each of the players being an exemplary athlete, student, teammate, and community member. The winners will be chosen by the number of votes cast on our website. This month’s voting for the Gators Student Athlete of the Month will run from Friday, 2/9 and will end on Friday, 2/16 at 12PM. The winning student athletes will be recognized on our website, awarded a full size action poster of the athlete, receive a certificate of recognition and a receive a gift from Gators Dockside of Waterford Lakes. For this month’s contest we will have a male and female student athlete of the month winner. Congratulations and good luck to the following nominees that were chosen by their coaches for the month of January:

Female Student Athlete Nominees

Jasmine Smith (Sr)
Girls Basketball
Position: Forward/ Center

Jasmine has been a large reason to the success of our girls basketball program this season leading us to the best record in program history of 22-3. Jasmine averaged 16.4 point per game and 5.6 rebounds per game this season. This month, she has reached a milestone of 1000 career points at Timber Creek. Jasmine has managed to also maintain a 3.7 gpa while managing her athletic career.

McKenzie Kaushagen (Sr)
Girls Weightlifting
Weight Class: 154 lb

McKenzie is a senior at Timber Creek who finished 7th in state for weightlifting last year and this year earned 4th place in the 154 lb weight class. She has earned a 4.4 weighted GPA, has been involved in SGA, Beta club and Pit Crew this year and plans on majoring in Psychology at FAU.

Lindsay Perron (Jr) 
Competitive Cheer
Position: Flyer

Lindsay is a junior for the Timber Creek Competitive Cheer team who was able to step up and fill an injured flyers spot 1 month before state finals. She nailed her performance and helped the team taked 3rd place at states. Lindsay does dual enrollment taking classes at Valencia as well as Honors courses at Timber Creek while maintaining above 3.3 GPA.


Male Student Athlete Nominees 

Brian Santiago (Sr)
Boys Wrestling
Weight Class: 170 lb
Season Record: 13-3

Brian is 13-3 this year and has won the Citrus tournament and placed 2nd at the Wolfpack tournament. Brian was a Metro and district champion last year. He has come back strong after suffering a concussion early on in the season. Brian is one of the hardest workers in practice. Brian is always supporting his teammates during matches and working with younger kids to get better

Devante Gilbert (Jr)
Boys Basketball
Position: Small Forward

Devante is a junior at Timber Creek who is a small forward for the Boys Varsity Basketball team. Devante was nominated by Coach Bailey because of his outstanding play during the month of January. He averaged 10.5 ppg and 6 rebounds over the course of the month with 2 high scoring games averaging 18.5 ppg. Devante is a very respectable young man who puts work in on and off the court.

Jordan Rivera (Sr)
Boys Soccer
Position: Mid-Fielder

Jordan is a midfielder as well as a captain for the TC Boys Varsity Soccer team for the 2017-2018 season. He became a very influential player to the team late in the season. Jordan embraced the #6 role which is the defensive midfielder position. He was key to helping the back four defensively as well as supporting the attack position. Jordan played his position the way it is supposed to be played while displaying exceptional leadership.
