Hello Students, Parents and the TC Community!
The Timber Creek Wolves Athletic Department would like to announce their monthly contest for the Student Athletes of the Month for March brought to you by Gator’s Dockside of Waterford Lakes. Each month the Timber Creek coaches select a member of their team that best exemplifies a Wolf Student Athlete. There is an emphasis on each of the players being an exemplary athlete, student, teammate, and community member. The winners will be chosen by the number of votes cast on our website. This month’s voting for the Gator’s Student Athlete of the Month will run from Sunday, 4/8 and will end on Friday, 4/13 at 11:59PM. The winning student athletes will be recognized on our website, awarded a full size action poster of the athlete, receive a certificate of recognition and a receive a gift from Gators Dockside of Waterford Lakes. For this month’s contest we will have a male and female Gator’s Student Athlete of the Month winner. Congratulations and good luck to the following nominees that were chosen by their coaches for the month of March:
Male Student Athlete Nominees
Xiomara “Gia” Malone (So)
Girls Varsity Track & Field
Events: High Jump, Long Jump, 100 Meter Hurdle, 200 Meter Dash, 4X100 Meter Relay and 4X400 Meter Relay
Gia was nominated by Coach Halsey. Gia joined the Track and Field team this year as a sophomore after her family was forced to relocate to Orlando due to the Hurricane damage in her home country of the British Isles. Gia has quickly made her mark in the track and field arena competing in the high jump, long jump, 100 meter hurdles, 200 meter dash, 4×100 meter relay and 4×400 meter relay. Her accolades over the past month speak for themselves and include claiming the school record in the High Jump at a height of 1.63 meters (5 feet 4.25 inches). Gia placed first in the high jump at every competition in March, which included claiming the title of Metro East Freshman/Sophomore Conference Champion (she was the champion in the 100 meter hurdles as well). At the Brian Jaeger Elite Classic, she placed 2nd in the 100 hurdles and 1st in the high jump. At the Highlander relays, she placed 1st in the high jump, 1st in the long jump and 1st in the 4×400 meter relay. At the UNF Pre-State meet, she placed 2nd in the 100 Hurdles, and 4th in the long jump. Gia is an all-around excellent athlete and has been a great addition to the girls track and field team. Outside of our track fences, Gia is also a great student and contributes to her community. She takes great pride in her home country and just had the opportunity last week to represent the British Isles as the Carifta Games held in the Bahamas. Gia also maintains above a 3.6 GPA while taking multiple Honors courses.
